25 East 22nd Street Townhouse

This building was originally the New York City residence of George Nelson. The project was to transform it into a mixed use showroom and residence.

Originally a four story brownstone, the building was totally gutted, fully renovated, and extended two more floors with a new elevator installed.

The façade is a replica of the original brownstone details, with the exception of the material. The new Texas limestone façade was custom made with replication of the details from photographs of the original building. There is an all new stone stoop with custom iron work.

The interior of the building was stripped down to the beams and brick outer walls.

The detailing of the interiors was modernized only as an interpretation of the by-gone era, colors were chosen as a background for a hip new fashion house headquarters.

Most furniture was fabricated overseas.

The penthouse was designed as a one bedroom owner’s residence, with two terraces facing north and south. With all the automated electronics such as music system throughout the building and rising flat screen televisions from base cabinets and terrace projection screens, the building was designed for shows and entertainment.
